IL State Treasurer Michael Frerichs Visit – August 29, 2016

We had a great visit from our State Treasurer. He educated us on several programs his office is responsible for including: the Ag Invest Program, the College Savings Program, the ICash program, and the Illinois Growth and Innovation Fund. Mr. Frerichs also briefly discussed two new programs they are developing including one called ABLE Accounts that allows parents of disabled children to save tax-free dollars to help provide care for their children later in life and also a retirement fund called Secure Choice, which makes it easier for people to save for retirement with automatic payroll deductions. For more information on how these programs can help you, visit http://www.illinoistreasurer.gov.

Movie in the Park Event deemed a success.

We might have had to move our movie indoors to the Carlton Center, but we still had over 100 people join us for a fun-filled night. Several started off at the Free family swim, donated by the City of the McLeansboro. Starting at 7, the Chamber served up hot dogs, chips, drinks and popcorn, with the movie starting promptly at 8 p.m. We also gave out 10 backpacks at the end of the night, which were provided by the Hamilton County Chamber of Commerce, McLeansboro Kiwanis, Hamilton County Rotary, McLeansboro Eagles and McLeansboro Elks. Thanks to everyone who contributed, donated, volunteered and attended this great community event!
